Hilary John is a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in banking, civic education, NGO management, and social advocacy. She holds an MSc in NGO and Development Management from the University of East London and a BA in Literature and Education from Njala University. Her career spans leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank Sierra Leone, where she rose to Head of Consumer Banking, and later as Regional Coordinator for the National Council for Civic Education and Democracy (NaCCED), where she provided strategic direction, strengthened partnerships, and advanced civic engagement initiatives. Hilary is known for her integrity, strong administrative skills, and ability to lead diverse teams while embedding organizational values and goals.

Beyond her professional achievements, Hilary has been deeply involved in women’s empowerment and civil society advocacy. She is an active member of the 50/50 Group, promoting women’s political participation, and has contributed to reintegration projects for child combatants through Children Associated with War (CAW). Her volunteer work with World Vision and CAFOD reflects her commitment to humanitarian causes, while her radio advocacy on Salone Tidae amplified the voices of marginalized women. Fluent in English and Krio, Hilary combines strategic leadership with empathy, conflict resolution skills, and a passion for inclusive development, making her a respected figure in Sierra Leone’s civic and social landscape.
