Security Tips

Fraud Prevention

1. Keep Your Login Details Private

Sharing your login details compromises the security of your account. Even if the person you share your credentials with is trustworthy, they may store your details insecurely or use a compromised device. We strongly advise against sharing your login details. If you must share them, regularly monitor your account and subscribe to SMS alerts for your financial transactions.

  • Never share your PIN or card details with anyone.
  • When using your card at an ATM, cover the keypad with your hand.
  • Never write your PIN on your card.
  • Do not respond to text messages, emails, or calls requesting your card details or PIN, even if they appear to come from the bank.
  • Avoid using numbers from your birthday, phone, or account number as your PIN.
  • Ensure anyone behind you is at a safe distance and cannot see your PIN.
  • Sign up for transaction alerts on your Debit Card to stay informed of any activity.

Criminals use tactics to trick you into responding without thinking. Some common red flags include:

  • Urgency:Messages that pressure you to act quickly, such as “respond within 24 hours” or threats of fines or penalties.
  • Scarcity:Offers for something in limited supply, such as tickets, money, or medical cures, designed to trigger fear of missing out.
  • Current events:Scams that exploit news stories, big events, or seasonal issues to make the message seem relevant.

Reporting suspicious messages helps protect you and others from fraud. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from CMB, please report it immediately. This allows us to investigate and take action if the message is malicious.

  1. If You’ve Already Responded to a Suspicious Message
    • If you’ve provided your banking details, contact us immediately.
    • If you’ve given out your password, change it immediately on all accounts that use the same password.
1. Stay Alert to Fraud

Fraud can occur in many forms. Always remain vigilant when conducting financial transactions. Follow security procedures and report any suspicious activity immediately to the Bank.

For your protection, all transactions require proper identity verification.
Customers must provide valid identification when requested. This helps the Bank prevent fraud and protect your account.

If you notice large or unusual transactions on your account that you did not authorize, contact the Bank immediately. Prompt reporting helps us investigate and resolve issues quickly.

The Bank maintains strict security procedures and verification processes for all transactions. These controls help protect both customers and the institution from fraud and financial crime.

Accounts that have been inactive for a long period may require additional verification before transactions can be processed. This measure helps prevent unauthorized access.

Never share your online banking passwords, usernames, or login details with anyone.
Your banking credentials are personal and must always remain confidential.

Always check deposit slips, cheques, and transaction details carefully before submitting them. Small errors or alterations can lead to financial loss or delays.

Your PIN and One-Time Password (OTP) should never be shared with anyone — not even bank staff. If anyone asks for this information, it may be a fraud attempt.

All transaction adjustments must be properly authorized and documented by the Bank. Customers are advised to always verify transaction confirmations and report any irregularities.

If you see or suspect any fraudulent activity, report it immediately. Speaking up helps prevent fraud and protects other customers.

If you suspect fraud or unauthorized activity on your account, please contact **Commerce and Mortgage Bank Fraud Desk immediately.
